Hello,

We are Lexis Zeidan and Dayna Peoples, co-founders of Detroit Kids Matter. The birth of Detroit Kids Matter came about during the 2020 protests regarding the death of George Floyd and the reality of police brutality in America. 

As educators in the city of Detroit, we were able to witness how powerful and unapologetic our children can really be and their movement in this fight for racial equity was nothing short of inspiring. Through our continued relationships with Detroit students and their families, our goal is to continue to empower them. The reality is- Detroit students are part of a broken education system that fails them everyday and this movement is meant to encourage and continue to inspire them to advocate for the things that they deserve and to let people know- Detroit Kids Matter. We will strive to achieve this goal by partnering with and sponsoring local nonprofits and organizations that motivate and inspire our youth to be their personal best in every situation and task ahead of them.
